A family in Anambra State has called for justice following the tragic killing of a young woman, Ogechukwu Mmadubugwu, who was allegedly murdered by her fiancé, Valentine Chibuike Anaikpe, from Umuoji community.
According to a family member, the incident began on the night of Monday, December 8, 2025, when Valentine reportedly called Ogechukwu around 9pm, claiming he was seriously ill and unable to help himself. He allegedly asked her to buy medications and bring them to his house, which was said to be close to hers.
Out of concern and affection, Ogechukwu reportedly purchased the requested drugs and went to his residence. On arrival, the man allegedly told her his condition had worsened and pleaded with her to stay the night to help care for him. Ogechukwu then informed her mother by phone that she would not be returning home until the following morning.
By Tuesday morning, December 9, 2025, Ogechukwu had not returned home, and repeated attempts to reach her and her fiancé by phone were unsuccessful. Concerned relatives and neighbours later went to Valentine’s house to find out what was happening.
Tragically, they reportedly discovered Ogechukwu lying lifeless on the floor, with multiple stab wounds, and blood found around the room. The suspect was nowhere to be found, and his whereabouts remain unknown as of the time of this report.
The family has described the killing as brutal and has appealed to the public for help in locating the suspect. They are urging anyone with information about Valentine Chibuike Anaikpe to report to the nearest police station or contact the family through the provided phone line.
Relatives say Ogechukwu deserves justice and have called on security agencies to act swiftly to arrest the suspect and ensure that he is brought to face the law. The incident has sparked outrage and grief among family members and residents, adding to growing concerns over cases of domestic and relationship-related violence.
