Fear and tension have continued to rise in Kaduna State after Ven. Edwin Achi of the Anglican Communion, Diocese of Kaduna, and his wife, Mrs. Sarah Achi, were kidnapped on October 28, 2025. The victims, who hail from Umuaja in Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State, are still being held by their abductors more than a month after the incident.
The kidnappers have demanded a shocking ₦600,000,000 ransom for their release. A photo released by the abductors shows that Ven. Achi and his wife are not the only victims in captivity. Several other innocent people appear in the image, raising fears that this is part of a larger wave of coordinated attacks affecting communities across Kaduna and other parts of Nigeria.
Families, church members, and concerned citizens have expressed deep anxiety and frustration as the days pass with no positive update. Many are calling on the Federal Government, the Kaduna State Government, and the country’s security agencies to take urgent action to rescue the victims. They argue that the failure to address this case quickly shows how insecurity continues to threaten lives, freedom, and peace across the nation.
Residents say the situation is unbearable and that the government must act immediately to prevent further tragedies. Every additional day the victims spend in captivity adds to the emotional pain and fear faced by their families, followers, and communities who are hoping and praying for their safe return.
