According to Mr. Amadi, the disagreement started about two weeks ago after he returned home late from work and requested egusi soup with pepper for dinner. However, his wife informed him that it was already late and that she had prepared vegetable yam earlier in the evening.
Mr. Amadi said he became upset because, according to him, it was not the first time his wife had refused to cook what he wanted. Out of anger, he decided to “prove a point” by calling another woman on speakerphone in his wife’s presence and asking her to prepare the meal for him instead.
“I asked my wife for egusi soup, she said it was too late. But another woman, who’s a working-class lady, agreed to cook it immediately after I called her,” he said.
“I sent her money right there in my wife’s presence. I wanted to show her that other women respect their men.”
Mr. Amadi said he later left home that night to eat at the other woman’s house, where he also spent the night.
When he returned the following morning, he discovered that his wife and their two sons were gone.
“She took my twin boys and left. I’ve called everyone, her family, her friends—no one has seen her. Her phone has been switched off since that day,” he added.
“Someone told me they saw her leaving with the boys, but I don’t know where she went. I just want my children back.”

The distraught father insisted that he was only trying to “teach his wife a lesson” about respect and never expected her to leave home.
He also accused his wife of possibly having another man, saying:
“At this point, I don’t need a prophet to tell me what’s happening. If she’s tired of the marriage, that’s fine, but let her bring my sons back to me.”
As of press time, efforts to reach Mrs. Cynthia Amara or any member of her family for comment have been unsuccessful.
The situation has sparked reactions among neighbours and on social media, with many divided over who was right or wrong in the matter. While some blame the husband for disrespecting his wife publicly, others argue that the wife’s decision to leave with the children was too extreme.
The whereabouts of Mrs. Amara and the twin boys remain unknown as of the time of filing this report.
