According to her, she did not want to finish service and join the countless number of graduates who roam around with their CVs, knocking on office doors, and begging for job opportunities that might never come. She wanted a different story. She wanted to create opportunities for herself, even before NYSC.
By 2024, when she finally went for her service year, things had already changed in her favour. She was no longer just a young woman in khaki uniform. She had her own business running. She had an income to rely on, she had customers who trusted her, and she had peace of mind that many of her fellow corps members did not have.
She explained that sometimes, people do not understand when there is a delay in someone’s journey. But her own experience showed that not all delays are failures. Some delays can be strategic.
Today, she looks back and is proud of the decision she made. While others thought she was left behind, she was actually ahead in a different way. For her, the delay was not a loss, it was preparation for life after NYSC.
