Must Read
Another heart-shaking story has surfaced from Lokoja, the capital city of Kogi State, where a man identified as a resident of Shetima community shared how he and his family were attacked in their sleep by suspected Fulani/Hausa robbers.
The incident reportedly happened in the early hours of Wednesday, 26th June 2025 — a date the man says will remain unforgettable in his life.
In his own words:
"Me and my family were inside sleeping when they bursted into the room. They numbered almost 20 of them. Some stayed in the parlour, while some came into the room with machetes, asking us for money."
According to the victim, the robbers moved confidently from house to house, not minding the presence of the nearby Army barracks, and operated freely for a long time without any interruption from security operatives.
He added:
"They took valuables and made away after cutting me with cutlass. I thank God none of my family members were hurt."
The attack happened in Shetima, a community said to be adjacent to the Army barracks in Lokoja, and this has raised more concerns about the state of security in the area.
"No Where is Safe in Nigeria Anymore"
"This is what happens when you are born and live in Nigeria. No matter where you stay, no matter your status, Nigeria no send anybody. No where is safe again."
He also referenced a post by another victim, Deborah Linus, who had earlier shared a similar experience that many thought was exaggerated — until this became his own reality.
Fear and Frustration as Robberies Rise
Stories like this are becoming more common in Nigeria. From urban centres to quiet communities, armed robbery and home invasions are now everyday news.
Residents in Lokoja and across Nigeria have continued to cry out for better protection from government and security agencies. Sadly, many feel like their voices are not being heard.
"The government is either tired or afraid of these people," he added.
A Wake-Up Call to Everyone
The man ended his story with a plea to the public:
"Please try to stay safe and security conscious out there. A lot is happening and will continue if the government does not rise up. When will enough really be enough?"
