Speaking to supporters in Port Harcourt on Saturday, Fubara disclosed that Tinubu urged him to make peace with his “Oga,” referring to Wike, with whom he has been at odds since assuming office in 2023. The feud between the two leaders prompted Tinubu to declare a six-month state of emergency in Rivers State, leading to Fubara’s suspension.
Following a recent reconciliation meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Wike announced that peace had been restored, with all parties agreeing to collaborate for the state’s progress. However, Fubara described the reconciliation as a “bitter and heavy” but necessary sacrifice for the stability and development of Rivers State.
Addressing his supporters, known as the “Simplified family,” Fubara urged them to accept the peace accord. “After the meeting we had before May 29th, we’ve had a series of meetings, and one of those was with the President. President Tinubu clearly said, ‘I want you and your oga to settle,’” Fubara recounted.
The reconciliation efforts mark a critical step toward resolving the political turmoil that has gripped Rivers State, with Tinubu’s intervention aiming to foster unity and progress in the region.
