A young mother has shared an emotional account of a terrifying experience that left her thanking God for what she believes was divine intervention after narrowly escaping a fatal taxi accident with her six-month-old baby.
According to her, the day began with a rush to take her child for a medical appointment. In the hurry, she forgot to pack spare diapers — something she said she never fails to check before leaving home. She quickly boarded a taxi, holding her baby securely.
The mother said her child suddenly clung to her tightly, wrapped his little arms around her neck, buried his face in her chest, and began crying uncontrollably. She said the behaviour was unusual, but she dismissed it as a random moment of distress.
Inside the taxi, she noticed the driver was moving at a dangerously high speed. When she politely asked him to slow down, he allegedly increased his speed instead. Her repeated request angered him, and he shouted, claiming he had more than 10 years of driving experience.
She looked to the other passenger for support, but the man remained silent throughout the exchange.
Moments later, her baby soiled his diaper — and that was when she remembered the forgotten spare diapers. She said she spotted some shops ahead and begged the driver to stop so she could buy new ones, but he refused angrily. Feeling increasingly unsafe, she asked him to stop and let her out.
He eventually pulled over. She paid him, stepped out with her child, crossed the road, bought diapers, and boarded another taxi heading toward the clinic.
On her way, however, traffic ahead forced her new driver to stop. When she looked out the window, she immediately recognised the scene: the first taxi she had just left was wrecked in a severe accident.
According to bystanders, the taxi had collided with a truck. Both the driver and the passenger were critically injured and later died on the way to the hospital.
The mother said she burst into tears instantly, overwhelmed with shock and gratitude. She believes her forgotten diapers, her baby’s sudden intense crying, and the need to get out of the taxi were all signs that saved their lives.
She and her child eventually made it home safely.
“Please help me thank God,” she said emotionally. “My baby and I were supposed to be in that very car. I keep imagining what would have become of us. God gave us another chance. I am so grateful.”
