A 28-year-old woman has raised alarm over a disturbing pattern of tragedies that has affected her and her older sister for years, leaving them terrified of marriage and deeply worried about their future. According to the woman, every man who enters a serious relationship with either of them dies exactly six months after the relationship becomes committed, a sequence she now believes may be linked to her family’s troubled past.
She explained that her mother lived a difficult life before marrying her late father in Bayelsa. The couple married quickly, but when she was four and her sister was six, her father suddenly lost his job. The pressure pushed their mother back into her old lifestyle, which later contributed to their father’s death. Afterward, her mother was banished from the community, forcing her to relocate with her daughters. She later remarried, but died during childbirth, leaving the girls with a stepfather who continued to support them through school.
The real horror, she said, began after she and her sister became adults. She explained that every serious relationship they have both entered has ended in the sudden death of the man exactly six months after commitment. She initially dismissed the cases as coincidence until the pattern became impossible to ignore.
Her older sister has lost two husbands in the same pattern, each dying exactly six months after marriage. She herself has lost three boyfriends to similar tragedies, including one who died in a car accident in 2023 — precisely six months after they began their relationship.
The fear has grown so strong that she now ends relationships herself once they approach the five-month period, even when nothing is wrong. She said she has done this with four recent boyfriends simply to avoid losing them. However, she is now in love with a man she does not want to leave, and they have already begun planning marriage. She admitted that she cannot bring herself to tell him about the pattern for fear of losing him immediately.
The woman added that tragedy struck again last week when her sister’s new partner, whom she had been dating for six months, died in a motorcycle accident. According to her, this latest death has left the entire family terrified and emotionally exhausted.
She said she and her sister have visited pastors, spiritualists, prophets and native doctors in search of answers, but nothing has changed. She described her emotional state as desperate, explaining that she is almost 29 and wants nothing more than to become a wife and mother, yet she fears losing the man she loves the same way she lost others.
She appealed for help from anyone who might understand what she and her sister are facing or can offer a solution, saying she simply wants to live a normal life without the fear of losing every man who loves her.
