According to trending reports, there was serious drama yesterday inside an Ibom Air flight when a male passenger was caught stealing the sum of N290,000 from the bag of an Oyibo man. It was gathered that the suspect, identified only as Oga, had boarded the flight like every other passenger. Shortly after passengers settled in, he went to the overhead compartment pretending to check his bag. Unknown to others, he secretly took the money from the luggage of the Oyibo man sitting close to him.
Moments later, the Oyibo man noticed that his bag was missing and quickly raised an alarm inside the plane. Luckily, a female passenger who saw everything pointed at the suspect, saying she saw him when he moved the bag. When the cabin crew and other passengers searched him, the missing N290,000 was found carefully hidden under his seat. The man was immediately handed over to airport security officers.
From the video circulating online, the suspect was seen being led out of the aircraft by airport officials as passengers watched in shock.
According to one of the passengers on board, when the suspect’s bag was searched, only one shirt was found inside.
People were left wondering how someone could pay for a flight ticket of over N200,000 just to go and steal.
Many Nigerians have reacted to the incident, saying greed and desperation are pushing some people to do unbelievable things, even in public places like airplanes.
