The children’s mother, who initially suggested disposing of the baby rodents, said she was shocked at their emotional reaction.
“They looked at me like a heartless mother,” she recounted. “They asked if I had no pity for the baby rats, and even asked how I would feel if someone killed them.”
Moved by their passionate plea, she agreed to let them care for the rats, though with mixed feelings.
Since then, the children have taken on the role of caretakers, feeding the tiny creatures with milk and even leaving leftover food for them.
“Now I’m just praying the rats don’t die, because if they do, these children will say I killed them,” the mother joked.
She ended with a playful appeal:
“Mother rat, please come and carry your children!” 🐀😂
