According to police sources, Taye admitted during interrogation that he cooked oil rice which he and Davina ate on Saturday morning before leaving home. He claimed that a few days earlier, he had a serious quarrel with his wife after Davina allegedly told him she caught her stepmother with their neighbor in a compromising situation. The quarrel reportedly led to him chasing his wife out of the house on Thursday.
Taye further explained that when he returned home Saturday evening, Davina told him her stepmother had come around but had already left. He said he served himself and Davina the same oil rice again, but shortly after eating, he began to feel stomach discomfort and decided to take palm oil as a remedy before going to sleep.
On Sunday morning, Taye said he woke up to find Davina lying in the same spot where she had been the previous night, extremely weak and soiled with feces. Alarmed, he rushed her to a nearby chemist, but the nurse on duty referred them to a hospital due to her critical condition. Sadly, Davina died on the way to Agbarho General Hospital.
The tragic incident has sparked outrage and deep suspicion within the community, with many questioning the circumstances that led to Davina’s sudden death. Residents are eagerly awaiting the outcome of police investigations to uncover the full truth.
Police authorities confirmed that investigations are ongoing and assured the public that justice will be served.
