A wave of sorrow has swept across Sapele, Delta State, as news broke of the alleged murder of a young woman, Excel Ukeredi Peace, by the man she once called her partner. She was just 23 years old. According to information reaching Prudentj2.com, Excel’s life was allegedly cut short by her baby daddy after she reportedly tried to end their troubled relationship. The tragic incident occurred on Thursday, and the suspect is currently being held at the Sapele Divisional Police Headquarters.
Her death has triggered outrage online, especially after her final chats were shared by a close friend. The screenshots, which are now going viral, reveal that Excel was scared, depressed, and desperate to leave what she described as an unsafe and unhealthy relationship.
One of her most painful messages read:
“Babe, I wan tell you something personal wey I never tell anybody. I dey plan to leave my baby daddy because I no feel safe or happy with him again… I dey even fear to tell am… Please, no tell anybody. If I go offline or anything happen, abeg.”
In another heartbreaking message, she thanked her friend for helping her realise she deserved better:
“You open my eyes to see say I need to choose me first, my peace, and stop letting people use me like say my feelings no matter.”
She also wrote with hope, even in pain:
“Thank you for loving me the way I never even love myself sometimes… For me and for the future Excel, you go rise and shine.”
Those words now read like a farewell letter. They are no longer private chats. They are now the last voice of a young woman many believe wanted to escape, but could not.
Excel was reportedly a victim of emotional abuse and physical assault in the relationship. Close friends and neighbours said she had been going through a lot, but kept smiling through it all.
Her family is crying for justice. They are asking the Delta State Police Command not to allow this case be swept under the carpet. They fear that the suspect might try to bribe his way out, as whispers of possible compromise are already flying around.
One of her close friends who posted the chats online wrote:
“When it becomes toxic and leads to assault on each other, please flee. It’s better to be single than to be in the grave.”
Many Nigerians on social media are also demanding justice, asking the police to take a strong stance against domestic violence. They say Excel’s case must not be just another hashtag that fades with time.
This incident has also brought up the bigger issue of silent abuse in relationships. Many young women are reportedly enduring toxic love because they are afraid of being alone, judged, or not believed.
Now, Excel is gone. But her words remain. Words that sound like warnings. Words that beg for protection. Words that echo what many girls are too afraid to say out loud.
This is not just another news story. It is a cry. And Prudentj2.com will not stop following up on it until justice is served.
We pray for strength for her family, and for healing for her friends and loved ones. And we hope this painful loss will remind more young people that love should not hurt, and leaving a toxic relationship might just save your life.
