The decomposing body of Hon. Justice Azuka, a member of the Anambra State House of Assembly who was recently declared missing, has been discovered near the 2nd Niger Bridge.
A combined security team reportedly found the lawmaker’s remains on Thursday morning. The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the tragic development in a message to Daily Post, stating:
"Yes, our operatives are currently at the scene. As soon as I get more details, I will keep you updated."
Hon. Azuka, who represented the Onitsha I North constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, was abducted by gunmen on December 24, 2024.
He was reportedly kidnapped while returning home along Ugwunaobankpa Road in Inland Town, Onitsha.
The shocking discovery has sparked outrage and sorrow among residents and political stakeholders in Anambra State.
Authorities have yet to provide further details on the circumstances surrounding his death, but investigations are ongoing.
