Meta has fired about 24 employees in its Los Angeles office after they were caught using meal allowances to buy non-food items like acne pads, wine glasses, and detergent.
The meal credits, intended for food during long work hours, were misused, leading to their dismissal.
This comes as Meta continues restructuring efforts, which also led to layoffs across Instagram, WhatsApp, Facebook, and Reality Labs. Meta has already laid off over 20,000 employees since last year, part of CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s "year of efficiency."
