Six months ago, Intel introduced the 5th Gen Xeon processors. The new Xeon 6 chips are designed to meet the needs of AI and high-performance computing. CEO Pat Gelsinger summed it up: "Simply put, performance up, power down."
Intel also shared details about its upcoming Lunar Lake processors for AI-focused PCs, which will launch in Q3 and offer better on-device AI capabilities with up to 40% less power consumption.
Additionally, Intel's Gaudi 3 AI accelerator chips will be priced competitively. The Gaudi 3 kit, with eight chips, costs $125,000, while the previous Gaudi 2 is $65,000. For comparison, an HGX server with eight Nvidia H100 AI chips can cost over $300,000.
This announcement comes just days after Nvidia and AMD introduced their new AI processors. AMD revealed new AI chips for data centers and PCs, and Nvidia announced its next-gen AI chip platform, Rubin, set to launch in 2026.
Nvidia's data center segment, including GPU sales, continues to lead in revenue, generating $18.4 billion in Q4 2023, showing significant growth compared to AMD and Intel.
