A 40-year-old mechanic has shared a painful story of love, sacrifice, and betrayal after the woman he supported for years left him for her former partner.

According to his account, he met the woman when she was going through a very difficult time. She had dropped out of university, was rejected by her family, and was pregnant. The man responsible for her pregnancy, said to be a wealthy individual, had allegedly abandoned her and cut off all contact after she refused to end the pregnancy.

At the time, the mechanic said he was also struggling financially but could not ignore her situation.

“I couldn’t watch her suffer,” he said. “So I took her in and started taking care of her with the little I had.”

He explained that he spent his daily earnings from fixing cars to feed her and support her pregnancy. When she went into labor and complications arose, he sold his only motorcycle and took a high-interest loan to pay for her surgery.

For the next two years, he said he worked tirelessly, sometimes eating just once a day, to repay the debt while providing for the woman and her child, whom he raised as his own.

“I treated that child like my own blood,” he said.

He also helped the woman start a small business in front of his workshop so she could earn something and avoid stress. According to him, his long-term plan was to save enough money to properly marry her and build a stable family.

However, things took an unexpected turn.

The mechanic said he began to notice changes in her behavior, including frequent phone use and a sudden change in appearance. She later revealed that her former partner had returned, apologized, and promised to take her and the child abroad.

“She told me he bought her a new phone and promised her a better life,” he said.

The situation became more painful when he discovered that she was already four months pregnant for the same man, despite still living with him.

He said he was deeply hurt but was still willing to forgive her and continue the relationship.

“I even told her I would accept everything and still raise the child,” he said.

However, the woman reportedly rejected his offer, telling him he could not provide the kind of life she wanted.

“She said a mechanic cannot give her the kind of life her child’s father can,” he added.

The woman eventually left, allegedly picked up by her former partner. Before leaving, she reportedly gave him ₦50,000 and apologized.

Now left alone, the man says he feels broken and ashamed, especially after ignoring warnings from family and friends.

“I gave my heart and everything I had,” he said. “I don’t think I can trust again.”

The story has sparked emotional reactions online, with many expressing sympathy for the man while also highlighting the risks of one-sided sacrifice in relationships.
