Police Free Father Accused of Beating Daughter as He Claims Disobedience, While Girl Denies Allegations and Says He Has Disowned Her

The police have released Mr. Ishaku Haggai after his arrest over allegations that he assaulted his daughter, a case that has drawn public attention and concern.

According to police sources, Mr. Haggai was invited and questioned following reports that he physically attacked his daughter. While giving his account to the police, Mr. Haggai claimed that he had repeatedly warned his daughter that she was too young to be in a relationship. He accused her of disobeying his instructions by associating with boys.

He further alleged that during the New Year crossover period, his daughter failed to attend a church crossover night as expected and instead went elsewhere without his consent. Mr. Haggai suggested that her actions were part of a pattern of disobedience, which led to the confrontation between them.

However, the daughter strongly denied her father’s claims. In an interview conducted in the presence of the police and human rights activist Abdulmumin Imam, she stated that she did attend a church crossover night service. She also made serious allegations against her father, claiming that he regularly restrains her and her siblings before beating them.

Following the investigation so far, the police released Mr. Haggai while further assessments continue. As of the time of filing this report, Mr. Haggai has publicly stated that he has disowned his daughter.

The case has sparked mixed reactions from the public, with many calling for proper protection of children and a thorough investigation into the allegations of abuse. Police authorities have not yet disclosed whether further legal action will be taken.
