A Nigerian woman has shared a painful account of betrayal, deception, and family crisis after discovering that her husband secretly used family money to rent a house and buy a car for a side lover in Abuja, leaving her and their children struggling at home.
According to the woman, their youngest child is just three years old. She said her husband travelled last month for what he described as an “outside job,” claiming he would only be paid at the end of the trip. Trusting him, she waited patiently for him to return home with the money.
Unknown to her, the job had already been completed and her husband had been paid. Instead of returning home, he allegedly used about ₦2.5 million to rent a two-bedroom flat in Abuja for another woman. He also reportedly bought a car for the same woman, while sending only ₦200,000 to his wife to care for their children, all while continuing to lie that he had not yet been paid.
The situation reportedly took a dramatic turn when it was discovered that the woman he rented the house for was also involved with another man described as her “sugar boy.” When this man returned from a trip unexpectedly, he confronted the husband and ordered him to leave the house. The husband allegedly refused, insisting the house and car belonged to him, and attempted to take the car keys.
This confrontation escalated into a violent fight. The woman reportedly sided with her other partner against the husband. The clash turned bloody, leaving the husband seriously injured and hospitalized. Police were said to be involved in the incident.
Adding to the wife’s pain, she claimed the side woman had the audacity to call her and ask her to come to Abuja to nurse her injured husband — the same man who had lied about being on official duty. When she arrived in Abuja, she said she met police officers and finally learned the full details of what had happened.
Overwhelmed with anger and heartbreak, she returned home the same day to care for her children and contacted her mother-in-law, giving her the hospital address so she could look after her son.
The woman explained that her decision was influenced by her long-standing experience with her mother-in-law, whom she accused of constantly downplaying her son’s infidelity. According to her, whenever she complained in the past, her mother-in-law would dismiss it, saying, “He is a man,” and that cheating was nothing serious.
Now, despite the husband’s condition being described as “terrible,” the woman said her mother-in-law has turned on her, insulting her for refusing to abandon her three young children to care for a husband who betrayed her trust.
“How does she expect me to leave my three kids to go and look after a heartless husband?” the woman asked, questioning whether she is being too harsh or simply protecting her emotional and mental well-being.
“I am in so much pain as I type this,” she added.
The story has sparked intense reactions online, with many Nigerians debating issues of marriage, infidelity, family boundaries, and the emotional burden placed on women in troubled homes.
