A Nigerian woman has stirred laughter and nostalgia on social media after sharing an old photograph of herself taken immediately after she finished her Junior WAEC examination, opening up about how nothing she wore that day truly belonged to her.
The woman, who posted the picture on Facebook, said the photo was taken right after their Junior WAEC exams ended, a moment many students remember as one of freedom, excitement and showing off. In the picture, she is seen dressed in a school uniform, wearing dark eye glasses, sandals with socks, a bangle, and holding a mobile phone, looking calm and confident.
However, the confidence in the photo came with a hidden story. According to her post, the eye glasses were not hers but borrowed from someone she identified as Michael Charity. She also revealed that the phone she was pressing was borrowed from Onyinyechi Akpu, even though she already had her own phone at the time. She explained that she did not go to school with phones because she was a good girl.
The borrowing did not stop there. She said the bangle on her hand was collected from Dube Igah, while the sandals and socks were taken from her brother without permission. She added that she later received beatings for taking them.
In her words, she said she borrowed all these items just to feel among, using laughing emojis to show how funny the memory has become to her now.
The post has since attracted reactions from Facebook users who related strongly to the story, with many sharing similar experiences from their own school days. Some commenters said the post reminded them of the pressure students felt to look fashionable or fit in, especially after major exams.
Others praised her honesty and sense of humour, saying such stories show how simple and innocent school life used to be compared to today. For many, the post was not just funny but a reminder of growing up, friendship, and the small sacrifices made just to belong.
As the photo continues to circulate online, it has become another example of how old memories, when shared honestly, can bring laughter, connection and reflection across social media.
