A Nigerian mother of three has cried out for help as she struggles with emotional trauma and legal uncertainty after her husband abandoned their marriage and children, only to begin planning a new wedding with another woman. This news came after we reported that Bandit Boldly Flaunts New iPhone 17 Pro Max Worth ₦2.5M Inside Phone Store, Sparks Outrage Online
The woman, who narrated her ordeal anonymously, said she was married to her husband for 11 years before their relationship collapsed in 2023. According to her, the marriage took a sudden turn when her husband accused her of failing to cook for his visiting relatives. Without asking for her explanation, he allegedly assaulted her over the false accusation.
She said that on May 1st, 2023, her husband packed his belongings and walked out of their home, leaving her alone with their three daughters—now aged 14, 9, and 3.
Efforts by her family to resolve the issue were unsuccessful as her husband's family reportedly refused to attend peace meetings. For five months after leaving, the man allegedly provided no financial support for their children, forcing her to survive on the little she could save.
What has now deepened her pain is the discovery that her estranged husband is preparing for a full wedding ceremony with another woman he only recently met.
“He left us for two years with no explanation, no support, and now he’s planning to marry someone else,” she lamented. “My eldest daughter is deeply affected. I feel like I’m losing myself.”
The woman also revealed that her husband has not completed paying the bride price and other marital obligations owed to her family. She now wants to know whether she can take legal action or if she should simply move on with her life.
Adding to her confusion is the fact that she recently secured a well-paid position as an accountant in a private international bank—an opportunity her husband would never have approved of since he previously forbade her from working.
“This stress has given me blood pressure issues. I need guidance so I don't make the wrong decisions,” she said.
Her plea has sparked discussions online about marital abandonment, the legal rights of spouses, and the emotional toll such situations have on women and children. Legal experts say abandoned spouses may have options under Nigerian law, including seeking child support, claiming damages, or filing for dissolution depending on the type of marriage conducted.
For now, the mother simply says she wants justice, clarity, and peace for herself and her daughters.
