The wife of Malam Hassan Makuku, the Vice Principal of Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School, Maga, Kebbi State, who was killed during Friday’s bandit attack, has narrated the terrifying moments leading up to his death and the abduction of 25 students.
In an emotional account, she revealed that the attackers were “young men dressed in Army camouflage and speaking Fulani,” adding that the villagers initially mistook them for security operatives.
According to her, the assailants stormed the school in the early hours, opened fire, and forced their way into the compound before killing her husband and abducting several schoolgirls.
Authorities have since confirmed that 25 students were kidnapped during the attack. The Kebbi State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, said efforts are ongoing to locate and rescue the victims.
The killing of the vice principal and the mass abduction have heightened fears in the region, which has witnessed repeated attacks on schools by armed groups in recent years.
