According to her, life took a painful turn after she lost her father. Following his death, her uncle offered her a place to stay, but what was meant to be a safe haven soon became a place of suffering.
She said her uncle refused to sponsor her education and instead turned her into an unpaid helper in his home. She worked tirelessly, doing all sorts of chores, while his wife often treated her harshly.
To make matters worse, her uncle was secretly arranging to marry her off to a much older man — a stranger in his early 60s.
She said, “To my greatest shock, my uncle was making plans for me to marry a man I had never met before. He was old enough to be my grandfather. Meanwhile, my uncle’s children, including the one my age, were all in school.”
Despite the pain and betrayal, she was determined not to let her dreams die. She made the bold decision to leave her uncle’s house and move in with her grandmother.
Life was not easy with her grandmother either, but she was free. She took up small jobs, did menial work, and saved every little money she could find. For three long years, she sold goods on the street — enduring heat, hunger, and long days — just to build a better future.
She said, “I worked hard and saved every penny. I wanted to go to school and change my story. I believed that my life could still be better, no matter what I had gone through.”
After years of struggling, her dream finally came true. She gathered enough savings to enroll in school and began her journey to becoming a nurse.
With hard work, discipline, and faith, she successfully completed her studies and is now a proud qualified nurse.
In a twist of fate, the same uncle’s children — who once went to school while she worked and suffered — ended up dropping out. Today, they often reach out to her for financial help.
She said, “Ironically, my uncle’s children later lost interest in their studies and all became dropouts. They now run to me for assistance. Life is truly funny, but I hold no grudges. I still see them as family.”
Looking back at everything she has faced, she says she is grateful to God for how far she has come.
She said, “The most important thing is that I never gave up on my dream. I believe that God has a divine plan for each of us that no one can change. Destiny can be delayed, but it can never be denied.”
Today, she proudly wears her nurse’s uniform — a symbol of resilience, courage, and determination — and hopes her story encourages others never to give up, no matter how difficult life becomes.
