The emotional scene unfolded on Wednesday during court proceedings presided over by Judge Toyin Aluko. Abdulganiyu told the court he was tired of the marriage and no longer wanted to continue living with his wife.
“I’m tired of the marriage, My Lord. We’ve had several issues, and I don’t see any reason to continue,” he stated firmly before the court.
Mulikat, in tears, begged the court to intervene and persuade her husband to change his mind, saying she had nowhere else to go and still wanted her home to stand.
“My Lord, please talk to him. I’ve given birth to six children for him. I still want this marriage to work,” she pleaded, her voice breaking.

Despite her emotional appeal, her husband remained unmoved and insisted that his decision to end the union was final.
Moments later, Mulikat walked out of the courtroom in tears, but before she could reach the main gate, she collapsed suddenly, sending panic through the court premises.
Court officials and onlookers rushed to her aid, quickly pouring water on her face to revive her. After a few tense moments, she regained consciousness and was assisted to a nearby bench to rest.
A court official later confirmed that Mulikat was stable and recovering, while proceedings were temporarily halted due to the emotional incident.
The court is expected to give a ruling on the divorce case in the coming days.
