After tying the knot at a young age, a woman identified as Eby recalls how she once faced heavy criticism from neighbors and people around her. Read Our Last Post: Pain, Tears, and Questions: How 13-Year-Old Davina Died After Visiting Her Father for the First Time (Video)
According to her, shortly after her wedding, a woman openly mocked her, saying:
“Eby, what are you going to do in a man’s house at this your age in the name of marriage? Don’t you know that you are too young for marriage? Your marriage may not last because you are still naive. Chai, onwu nne (mother’s death)! If your mum was alive, she wouldn’t have allowed you to get married at this age.”
The words were bitter and painful, but Eby held on to her marriage and continued to build her home.
Years later, life turned the story around. The same woman who mocked her had two daughters. One got married at 17 years old, and another got married at 25, but got divorced just two years later.
Meanwhile, Eby is now preparing to celebrate 18 solid years in marriage with her husband.
Sharing an old photo from two years into her marriage, she said proudly:
“Onu mmadu abughi onu Chukwu (The voice of man is not the voice of God).”
She also promised to return soon with the full story of how she met her husband, fondly known as Nwoke Nnobi.
