According to eyewitnesses, the three friends had gone out to watch the Arsenal versus Manchester United football match. After the game, at about 6 o’clock in the evening, they were walking along St. Finbarrs Road when the disaster happened.
Reports say that a man known as Mr Sule Bala was driving a Toyota Tacoma truck while heavily drunk. His 5-year-old niece was also inside the vehicle. Witnesses said the driver was moving in a dangerous zigzag manner before suddenly losing control and ramming into the young men, crushing them into a fence.
The impact of the accident was severe. Chomo and Dung both lost their right legs, which doctors have now amputated, and they also sustained fractures on their left legs. Nathan was equally left in serious pain after suffering multiple fractures in his right arm and right leg.
This incident has completely changed the lives of the three friends in one evening. Families, friends, and community members have been left in deep sorrow, as the young men now face a long road of recovery.
Anger has also risen because those responsible for the accident have not stepped up to pay for the medical bills, despite earlier promises to do so.
The case has sparked calls for justice, with many people demanding that the authorities take action against drunk driving and ensure that victims receive full support.
