Woman Battles Guilt After Friend’s Life Turns Tragic Over Failed Charm to Save Marriage
A heart-wrenching story has surfaced online, revealing how one woman’s desperate attempt to help her best friend save her troubled marriage led to an even greater tragedy that has left her feeling broken, guilty, and restless.
The woman, who shared her painful confession, explained that her best friend, Angela (not her real name), had dated a man for six years and had two daughters with him out of wedlock. During those tough years, when the man was still struggling to make ends meet, Angela became pregnant with a third child. Sadly, her boyfriend at that time insisted she terminate the pregnancy because he felt they already had two children and could not afford another one.
The termination was done when the baby was already three months old. This led to severe complications that almost took Angela’s life. She spent nearly a week in hospital fighting for survival. Doctors later told her she might still be able to conceive again but her chances were very slim.
Three years later, after the man finally found his feet and his business became successful, he married Angela properly. But since then, they have struggled to have more children. According to the friend who shared this sad story, things started going downhill in the marriage as Angela’s husband began to insult her daily for being “barren”.
Angela, who is an orphan, had no family to run to whenever her husband abused her. She always turned to her best friend for help, calling her and crying every night. Sometimes the friend would even leave her own husband’s house to go and comfort Angela at her marital home.
When it got worse, Angela’s husband started seeing another woman and even planned to marry her as a second wife. Out of frustration and love for her best friend, the woman sharing the story suggested they go and see a native doctor. She said she herself had visited this same native doctor two years ago when she had problems with her own husband and claimed he helped her.
They went to the native doctor, paid ₦50,000, and he prepared a charm for Angela to secretly put into her husband’s food so that he would love her again and forget about the side chick. The native doctor warned that only her husband should eat the food.
But things did not go as planned. Angela’s first daughter mistakenly ate the food meant for her father. They realised too late what had happened. The little girl became very sick and died just two weeks later.
The tragedy did not stop there. Angela, already heartbroken, soon started behaving strangely. At first, her friend thought it was stress and grief. But her condition got worse, and she became fully mentally unstable.
With no parents alive to stand by her, Angela’s relatives and even her husband abandoned her after trying to take care of her at home for about two months. Now, Angela, who once had dreams of a happy family, is roaming the streets completely mad.
The woman who shared this confession said she has not been able to sleep since it happened. She said she has spent all her savings visiting the same native doctor and others, begging them to help her friend recover her mind. Sadly, none of them could help, and the original native doctor washed his hands off the matter, saying there was nothing he could do.
Now, she says she is restless, deeply guilty, and cannot forgive herself. She wrote:
> *“Right now, I am gradually giving up, but I am restless and feel so guilty about this. I am so sorry, Angela.”*
This tragic story has sparked heavy emotions online, with many people reminding others about the dangers of seeking charms, love potions, and other secret means to fix marriage problems.
Family experts advise couples to talk to professional marriage counsellors, trusted family members, or religious leaders instead of trying desperate spiritual shortcuts that can have dangerous consequences.
Angela’s heartbreaking story is also a reminder of how some women suffer in silence, especially when they have no family support and are made to carry all the blame when things go wrong in a marriage.
Many who read this story have offered prayers for Angela’s healing and hope that one day she will find peace again. It is a painful lesson for others that sometimes what we think is “help” can end up destroying lives forever.
