The Enugu State Government has announced that Enugu Air, its state-owned airline, will commence commercial flight operations on Monday, July 7, 2025. The airline, backed by the state and operated in partnership with Xejet, will launch with three Embraer jets—two 76-seat E-170s and one 100-seat E-190.
Enugu Air will initially offer direct flights connecting Enugu to Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt, with plans to expand to Kano and other domestic destinations before introducing regional routes across West and Central Africa later in 2025.
This milestone follows Governor Peter Mbah’s commitment to transforming Enugu into a commercial hub, with the airline expected to boost connectivity, tourism, and economic activity in the South East region.
The announcement aligns with the state’s broader transportation initiatives, including the rollout of CNG buses and ultramodern transport terminals. The launch has generated significant excitement, with posts on X praising Enugu Air as a transformative step for regional aviation.
