Popular social media figure, Okwuluora, has publicly expressed regret and taken responsibility for endorsing Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah of Enugu State amidst growing insecurity across the region.
In a viral Facebook post, Okwuluora reminded the people of Enugu that he once asked them to vote for Mbah and promised to take the blame if things went wrong. Now, with increasing killings, robberies, and fear gripping the state, Okwuluora says he can no longer keep silent.
“I supported Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah. I asked that you vote for him, that if he fails, you should hold me responsible… I take responsibility. People are losing their lives daily,” he wrote.
The post, which has now generated over 2,500 comments, includes reports of terrifying attacks and robberies in Enugu, even at busy locations like Presidential Road during the daytime.
Several commenters confirmed Okwuluora’s fears:
-
Ifeadigo Eze: “Nnamdi Kanu told you all… Fulanis are coming.”
-
Ezeonuegbu Ekene: “I heard herdsmen have relocated to Enugu from Benue.”
-
Celestine Chidera: “Eha-Amufu is bleeding. Uzo-Uwani is bleeding. We can’t go to our farmlands anymore.”
Some users even recounted personal encounters with danger. One said he was chased by unknown men last week and nearly fell inside a flyover. Another called on the governor directly, saying, “We need security in Enugu State, Sir Peter Ndubuisi Mbah. Don’t let us be washed away like Benue.”
The tension in the state appears to be growing, with more residents now calling on the government to prioritize lives over politics. As Okwuluora put it:
“Deprive them everything, but at least secure their lives.”
For now, residents are watching and hoping for strong actions from the government before things get completely out of hand.
