The Nigeria Police Force has recorded a string of major breakthroughs in its fight against criminal activities across the country, including the rescue of a 4-year-old girl, arrest of a fake kidnapping gang, and the recovery of thousands of counterfeit US dollars.
According to a statement released on Friday, June 21, 2025, by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, these operations reflect the growing success of intelligence-led policing and show just how committed the police are to making Nigerian communities safer.
Fake Kidnap Plot Uncovered in Katsina
In Katsina State, the Police cracked a shocking case of fake kidnapping involving two sisters—one aged 14, the other just 4 years old. The matter began on February 20 when a man named Alhaji Badamasi Bala reported the sudden disappearance of his daughters.
Months later, the 14-year-old suddenly returned home and during investigation, it was discovered she had staged the entire incident. She had reportedly conspired with three others—aged 25, 19, and 16—to fake her own abduction and hide her younger sister. Thankfully, the 4-year-old was rescued unharmed, and all suspects have been arrested.
Arms Trafficker Escapes, Rifle Recovered in Nasarawa
In another operation, this time in Nasarawa State, the Police received credible intelligence about a suspected arms trafficker. Officers laid an ambush along the Giza–Kadarko Road in Keana LGA. A suspicious man on an unregistered Bajaj motorcycle was flagged down, but he abandoned the motorcycle and escaped into the bush.
A search of the motorcycle revealed one AK-47 rifle, two magazines, and 45 rounds of live ammunition. The Police are still on the trail of the suspect.
Jigawa Fraudsters Nabbed with Fake $46,100
Meanwhile, in Jigawa State, a joint team of security operatives carried out a raid on June 13, 2025, in the Kankare and Zurkuda villages of Birnin Kudu Local Government Area. Seven suspected fraudsters were arrested in connection with a wide range of financial crimes.
During the operation, officers recovered $46,100 in counterfeit US currency, four POS machines, 13 Android phones, 29 small phones, six power banks, two vehicle number plates, and several documents suspected to be used in e-fraud. The suspects are currently in custody and are being interrogated.
Police Reaffirm Commitment to Secure Nigeria
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, praised the efforts of the officers involved and reassured Nigerians that the Police would continue to use intelligence gathering, rapid response, and collaboration with communities to fight crime in all parts of the country.
He urged members of the public to remain vigilant, law-abiding, and ready to assist the Police with credible information that can help secure lives and property.
