A man named Ali, who pretended to be mentally unstable, was caught carrying a human head in his bag. The suspect, who roamed the streets acting like a madman, was arrested by the Tema Regional Police Command near the Black Stars Line Harbour area, revealing a dangerous scheme that has raised alarm across the community.
According to reports, Ali was apprehended on May 30, 2025, after locals grew suspicious of his behaviour. At first, he played the role of a madman convincingly, wandering aimlessly and blending into the busy harbour area. But his act fell apart when police, acting on a distress call about a lifeless body found nearby, received additional information from community members who spotted Ali with a suspicious bag.
When confronted, Ali tried to maintain his disguise, but the police quickly rescued him from an angry crowd and took him into custody. Inside his bag, they found the severed head of a man, sending shockwaves through the community.
Investigations revealed a horrifying story. Ali confessed that he was sent by an unknown person to obtain a human head, possibly for ritual purposes—a practice that has raised concerns in Ghana in recent years. To carry out his mission, Ali targeted an unsuspecting man who believed he was just a harmless madman.
Seizing the moment, Ali allegedly struck the victim with a stone, killing him instantly. He then used a knife to attempt to decapitate the body, intending to deliver the head to his employer. His plan was thwarted when police intervened, arresting him before he could escape with the gruesome item.
The police took Ali back to the crime scene, where he reportedly demonstrated how he carried out the attack. The victim’s body was found in the harbour area, and the discovery has left residents terrified. Many are now questioning how such a crime could happen in broad daylight and are calling for tighter security in public spaces.
The Tema community is on edge, with locals urging everyone to be cautious. “Not every mad person you see on the road is truly mad,” one resident said. “Some are pretending, waiting for a chance to harm innocent people.” Social media has been flooded with warnings to stay alert, with many sharing the hashtag #WeAllDeyCareful to spread awareness. The incident has also prompted discussions about mental health, as Ali’s fake act has raised concerns about the stigma faced by genuinely mentally ill individuals.
The Ghana Police Service has confirmed that Ali Mustapha and a second suspect, Zakaria Mohammed, are in custody as investigations continue. The police are working to uncover who sent Ali on this deadly mission and whether others are involved. For now, residents of Tema and beyond are being urged to report suspicious behaviour to authorities and avoid confronting unknown individuals alone.
This shocking crime serves as a stark reminder to stay vigilant in public spaces. As the investigation unfolds, the people of Ghana are praying for justice for the victim and safety for their communities. Let’s all be careful out there and keep our eyes open to avoid falling victim to such dangerous schemes.
