A tragic incident has rocked a quiet community in Lagos after a pregnant woman, Mrs Emmanuela, lost her life along with her unborn baby, allegedly due to poisoning by her husband’s side chick.
According to reports, the side chick, identified as Kassandra, was arrested after police investigations revealed that she had been secretly adding harmful substances to the juice and oranges she regularly brought for Mrs Emmanuela during her visits.
Kassandra reportedly confessed to the crime, explaining that she only intended to make the wife lose the baby, not to end her life. “I wanted her to lose the baby, not kill her,” she tearfully told investigators.

The shocking twist is that just five months earlier, Kassandra had personally visited Mrs Emmanuela to apologise for unknowingly dating her husband. She claimed she had no idea he was married with two children.
Mrs Emmanuela, who was five months pregnant at the time, forgave her and even welcomed her as a friend. They grew close, with Kassandra often coming over with gifts and acting supportive.
However, things took a dark turn in Mrs Emmanuela’s eighth month of pregnancy. She began experiencing severe pain under her stomach and constant fatigue. Thinking it was normal pregnancy discomfort, she did not seek immediate medical help. Tragically, she collapsed one evening and was rushed to the hospital, unconscious.
Doctors struggled to understand her symptoms until a routine toxicology report revealed traces of a dangerous substance in her system. Investigations quickly pointed to Kassandra, who had been bringing juice and oranges as friendly gifts during her visits.
Sadly, after spending five days in a coma, Mrs Emmanuela and her unborn child died. The heartbroken husband is now left with their two young children, aged five and three.
Kassandra, who had been on the run for nearly two weeks, was eventually arrested. In her confession, she admitted that she had tried for months to terminate the pregnancy, but her previous attempts failed. She said the substance in the juice was only meant to cause a miscarriage. She now begs the family for forgiveness.
The community remains in shock over the tragic betrayal, with many calling for justice for Mrs Emmanuela and her unborn baby.
