A heartbreaking case of domestic violence has rocked Amibo Community in Ubakala, Umuahia, Abia State, after a young man was allegedly stabbed to death by his wife during a heated argument in their kitchen.
The unfortunate event took place on Wednesday, May 21, 2025. According to reports from residents familiar with the couple, their marriage had been troubled for some time, with repeated quarrels and past incidents of violence.
Neighbors and family members had made several attempts to intervene and help them resolve their differences, but sadly, those efforts were not enough to prevent this tragedy.
On the day of the incident, things reportedly got out of hand when an argument escalated into a physical fight while the couple was in the kitchen. In the heat of the moment, the wife is said to have picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed her husband.
He was quickly rushed to a nearby hospital, but despite efforts to save his life, he was declared dead by medical personnel. His body has since been moved to a mortuary in the area.
The wife was immediately taken into police custody and is currently being held at the Umuahia South Divisional Police Headquarters in Apumiri, Ubakala. Authorities say investigations are ongoing to fully understand what led to the fatal altercation. The suspect is expected to be arraigned once preliminary investigations are completed.
This incident has sent shockwaves through the Ubakala community, with many residents expressing sorrow and disbelief. Some have called for more public education and intervention on domestic violence issues to help prevent similar occurrences in the future.
