The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced a reward of N5 million for anyone who provides useful information that leads to the recapture of seven inmates who recently escaped from the Medium Custodial Centre in Ilesa, Osun State.
This was made known by the Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Deputy Controller of Corrections Abubakar Umar, in a statement released on Wednesday in Abuja.
According to the statement, the inmates escaped on Tuesday, and since then, efforts have been ongoing to locate and rearrest them. To help speed up the process, the federal government is now calling on members of the public to assist security agencies by sharing any information they might have about the escapees.
The government emphasized that the safety and security of the public are a top priority and that citizens’ cooperation is crucial in achieving this.
The Nigerian Correctional Service has assured that all information provided will be handled with the highest level of confidentiality, and the identity of those who come forward will remain anonymous.
In the statement, members of the public were encouraged to contact the following if they have any useful information:

The government has not yet released the identities of the escaped inmates but has assured that detailed updates will follow as investigations continue and efforts to recapture them intensify.
Residents of Osun State and neighboring areas are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movement or persons to the nearest police station or correctional facility.
The authorities are hoping that the N5 million reward will serve as a strong motivation for citizens to get involved and help ensure that these fugitives are returned to custody as quickly as possible.
