A senior police officer, DSP Kenneth Ndu, collapsed and died on Thursday while he was eating beans and plantains with his colleagues at the police headquarters in Abia State.
He had just returned from an investigation with his team when he suddenly fell down. He was quickly taken to the Federal Medical Centre in Umuahia, but the doctors could not save him.
A top police officer, who wished to remain anonymous, explained that Ndu was a team leader of the Swift Response Squad in Zone 9, Umuahia. This is different from some reports that mistakenly called him the Commander of the Rapid Response Squad.
The officer confirmed that Ndu died from a heart attack. He also mentioned that Ndu was set to retire from the Nigerian Police Force in March 2025.
