A Nigerian woman has taken to social media to criticize her child’s school for assigning difficult homework that she believes is putting unnecessary pressure on parents.
In a viral post on X (formerly Twitter), she expressed frustration, stating that schools teach one thing in class but give completely different assignments at home.
She argued that if the homework were based on classroom lessons, children wouldn’t need parental assistance.
“My child is the one in your class, yet you’re giving me and his father the assignment,” she complained. “You teach them 2+2 in class, then send them home with quadratic equations, stressing both parents in the process.”
Her post has sparked widespread debate online, with many parents sharing similar frustrations about schools giving complex assignments that require parental intervention.
Some social media users joked about how this issue extends beyond primary schools, with university lecturers also giving assignments that are different from what they teach in class.
The viral post has reignited discussions on the effectiveness of homework and the role of parents in their children’s education.
