A young woman was rescued by the police in Abuja. The Federal Capital Territory Police Command said they saved her from a man who is a suspected ritualist and armed robber. The rescue took place on January 31, 2025, at a hotel in the Wuse area of Abuja.
The woman is called Promise Eze and she is twenty-five years old. She comes from Ebonyi State. The police found her tied to a chair with tape on her mouth. She was in a very bad state. Her family had called for help after she sent a distress call.
Promise said that a man, who said his name was Emmanuel Okoro from Lagos State, had checked her into the hotel on January 30, 2025. He also used another name, Michael Prince, and claimed to work in the oil business in Delta State.
When she met him, she did not know that he would hurt her. He used a dagger to threaten her, tied her hands and legs, and taped her mouth in a bathroom. He even stole her two mobile phones.
When the police arrived, the man was already gone. The police have put him on a watchlist and they are searching for him. They have told people to be careful when meeting strangers online.
The police also refer to a similar case in September 2024 at Top View Hotel in Wuse, when a man was arrested for kidnapping, robbery and attempted murder. Anyone with information is asked to call the police immediately.
