A wedding in Jahun Local Government Area of Jigawa State took a tragic turn after the bride allegedly poisoned food served at the reception. The incident left the groom critically ill and claimed the life of one wedding guest.
Eyewitnesses believe the bride’s actions may have been driven by a personal vendetta. The police have confirmed the incident and arrested two suspects—the bride and another woman—in connection with the alleged food poisoning.
Jigawa State Police Public Relations Officer, Shi’isu Adam, stated, “We received a report that the bride tainted the food at the wedding reception. The suspects are now in custody and being interrogated by the Criminal Investigation Department.”
Adam also confirmed that all the wedding attendees who consumed the poisoned food have been discharged from the hospital, except for the deceased guest. “We are working hard to uncover the truth behind this incident and assure the public that justice will be served,” he added.
The identities of the victims have not yet been released. Meanwhile, social media has been abuzz with criticism directed at the unnamed bride, with many expressing outrage over the alleged act.
