OpenAI has released its new text-to-video model, Sora, for ChatGPT Plus and Pro users. The feature is available in all regions where ChatGPT operates, except the European Union, Switzerland, and the UK.
Sora's Features
Sora, first introduced as a research preview in February 2023, has now been rebranded as Sora Turbo. It allows users to create videos of up to 20 seconds in 1080p resolution. The model offers options for widescreen, vertical, or square formats. Users can generate entirely new videos from text prompts or remix existing assets to produce creative visuals.
ChatGPT Plus users can create up to 50 videos per month, while Pro users get 500 fast generations and unlimited slower-mode generations.
Safety Measures
OpenAI has added safeguards to prevent misuse of Sora. Content restrictions include blocking harmful uploads, like deepfakes or inappropriate material. All Sora-generated videos come with metadata to verify their origin and ensure transparency.
Future Plans
