In a heartbreaking story, a Nigerian woman shared how her mother’s actions turned them into bitter enemies. According to her, she recently returned from working in Dubai due to the dire situation her children were facing and the suffering they endured under her mother’s care.
The mother of two traveled to Dubai in 2022, leaving her children in the care of her own mother in Ibadan. She regularly sent money to support her children. However, upon her return to Nigeria a few days ago, she was devastated to find her children in a terrible state.
"When I landed and saw my kids, I just cried because of how pathetic they looked," the woman recounted. She explained that her mother, who was entrusted with caring for the children, had stopped cooking for them and would sometimes even force them to sleep outside in the cold.
To make matters worse, the woman discovered that her mother had developed a disturbingly close relationship with her husband. They would hold private conversations behind her back. Her mother had also misused over ₦600,000 from her bank account, leaving her completely broke.
Adding to her heartbreak, the woman revealed that she had bought a plot of land for her mother in Oyo State and started a small restaurant business to ensure the children were well cared for. However, her mother squandered the opportunity, turned to alcohol, and continued to mistreat the kids.
"She stopped cooking for the kids, and sometimes they would sleep outside in the cold," the distraught woman said. "I don’t want to see my mother again in my life because everything I’m going through today is because of her."
The decision to return home early from Dubai was a difficult one, especially since she had no savings to fall back on. Initially, one of her friends in Lagos offered to take care of the children. However, the woman realized it was too costly and chose to return home to care for them herself.
Now, the woman is doing her best to provide the love and care her children deserve after enduring such a traumatic experience. She emphasized that, for her own peace of mind, she wants no relationship with her mother for the time being..
