A Nigerian woman, identified as Grace, has shared her story, revealing that she is 53 years old and has never been married or slept with a man due to her mother’s health condition. As the only girl in her family, Grace has been solely responsible for taking care of her mother since she was born.
Born into a family of 12 children in Ilorin, Kwara State, Grace grew up as the only female among her siblings. After completing her secondary school education, she pursued a nursing course at a college of health sciences. Upon finishing her internship, she was fortunate to secure a job immediately. However, just as she was preparing to travel abroad for better opportunities, her mother fell critically ill.
At the time, Grace was 24 years old. A devoted churchgoer and deeply rooted in her faith, she was determined to remain pure until marriage. Her brothers, aware of her nursing expertise, insisted she stay back to care for their ailing mother. Being the only girl in the family, Grace took up the responsibility without hesitation.
Grace dedicated all her time and love to her mother, who was entirely dependent on her care. Although men showed interest in her, Grace claimed that most of them were only focused on sleeping with her. Even those who appeared serious were rejected because she couldn’t leave her mother behind. Her unwavering sense of duty and love for her mother always came first.
Grace disclosed that neighbors often encouraged her to get married or have children. She, however, dismissed their advice, explaining that her brothers' children feel like her own..
