My Husband Demanded a DNA Test for Our 17-Month-Old Son, and Now He Wants Me to Swear an Oath
Recently, my husband requested a DNA test for our 17-month-old son. Despite feeling hurt, I agreed without any complaints because I knew I had nothing to hide. The test results came back with 99.9% certainty that he is indeed the father.
However, instead of moving past this, my Husband now insists I follow him to his village to swear an oath, claiming it is the only way to prove I did not sleep with another man while he was away for six months.
My parents are advising me to go and swear the oath to save my marriage, even though I’m hesitant. I don’t trust this process because his village’s traditions are known to be fetish, and the idea frightens me.
Some of my friends believe his demands are suspicious. They think he might be using this situation as a way to push me out of the marriage and bring in another woman, possibly a girlfriend.
I have told him I will not go, but my refusal has put our marriage at risk. I feel scared and confused. I know I am innocent because no man other than my husband has seen my nakedness.
How do I handle this situation without compromising my dignity and safety?
