The Adamawa State Police have arrested a 19-year-old man named Aliyu Yaro for allegedly killing his three-day-old baby boy. According to Prudentj2, the tragic incident took place in Kwacham Ward, Mubi North Local Government area.
Aliyu’s girlfriend, Safiya, who had just given birth to the baby, accused him of the act. During police questioning, Aliyu confessed and showed the police where he had buried the baby.
Aliyu explained that Safiya, the baby’s mother, kept calling him to come and take responsibility for their child. Late one night, he went to her house. After sending Safiya out to fetch water, he took the baby and left with him.
Aliyu admitted that he later took the baby’s body to the Girpata area in Mubi and buried it alone at around 9:00 p.m.
The Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, Morris Dankombo, expressed deep concern over the case. He has ordered that the investigation be moved to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for a thorough examination and to ensure justice is served.
