Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has announced automatic employment for all First Class graduates who are indigenes of the state. This decision is part of efforts to boost the quality of manpower in the Edo State civil service.
The governor stated that the offer applies to graduates from any university in Nigeria or overseas. He urged eligible First Class graduates to report for employment opportunities in the state civil service.
Boosting Manpower and Motivation
Dr. Anthony Okungbowa, the Head of Service, explained that the initiative is part of the Graduate Development Programme (GDP), designed to attract young and talented graduates to improve service delivery in the state. He added that the program initially targets graduates from 2020 onward, though there may be an extension.
In addition, Governor Okpebholo has approved the payment of a “13th-month” salary to motivate civil servants and encourage productivity.
This move has been widely praised as a step towards fostering development and ensuring a brighter future for young graduates in Edo State.
