Nollywood actress and producer, Adanma Luke, has made a heartfelt plea for forgiveness from Nigerians after a tragic boat accident claimed the lives of actor John Odonwodo, popularly known as Junior Pope, and four others.
The incident occurred during the production of her movie "The Other Side of Life," leaving her devastated and struggling with depression.
In an emotional video shared on Instagram, Luke expressed deep sorrow and regret over the incident, revealing that the tragedy has taken a severe toll on her mental health.
She admitted to feeling overwhelmed by guilt and the backlash she has received online, stating, "I'm sorry, Nigerians. I'm sorry I took away your loved ones."
Luke also mentioned that she had been struggling with depression since the accident and is finding it difficult to cope with the loss and the criticism.
She explained that she has been unable to work or reach out to people for jobs, as the incident has left her mentally and emotionally drained.
The actress also shared details about the circumstances surrounding the accident, explaining that she had requested a safer location for the shoot but was assured by her team that the area was secure. Despite her concerns, the boat carrying the crew members capsized, leading to the tragic loss of lives.
Following the incident, the Actors Guild of Nigeria has barred actors from participating in any film produced by Luke until further notice.
