Some of ASUU’s demands include putting into effect the 2009 renegotiated agreements, payment of owed academic allowances and revitalizing university funds. The union has also raised concerns over proliferation of universities without corresponding funding.
The notice for strike was sent to Federal Ministries of Labor and Education by the ASUU while emphasizing that it follows the rules as stated in labor law.
After having a discussion with Minister of Education Prof. Tahir Mamman recently, President Emmanuel Osodeke noted that there were still some agreements arrived at during these deliberations which have not been honored by Government.
After this 21-day notice period lapses, henceforth, if these issues are not addressed, strike action will be imminent.
