In a remarkable turn of events, the mother of Hantar Daba, a wanted crime suspect in Kano, handed him over to the police for prosecution. The Kano State Police Command had declared Hantar Daba wanted and offered a reward of N500,000 for information leading to his capture.
SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, the command's Public Relations Officer, revealed that Hantar Daba willingly surrendered himself in the company of his mother and his former rival turned close friend, Abba Burakita. The police spokesperson shared the positive development in a statement issued on Tuesday.
"The good news is that the last person, Hantar Daba, who has been on the run for alleged crimes, finally surrendered himself to the police," stated Kiyawa.
Hantar Daba, currently under the custody of the Kano State Police Command, is undergoing security profiling. Despite his past, he expressed a desire to be part of the state government's amnesty program, seeking a chance for a new beginning. The suspect apologized for his previous actions and expressed readiness to contribute to peace and sustainable development in the state.
Commissioner of Police Mr. Hussaini Gumel urged anyone with complaints against Hantar Daba to report to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) at Bompai Police Headquarters in Kano. This unexpected turn of events highlights a mother's courage in delivering justice and her son's choice to face the consequences of his actions.
