SOLDIERS INTERCEPT POLITICIAN'S CONVEYANCE OF N2M CASH IN GOMBE
Troops of the 33 Artillery Brigade Operation Safe Conduct deployed to Alkaleri in Bauchi State have arrested one Hassan Ahmad who was holding the sum of two million naira in cash in old and new currency amid the financial crisis we are witnessing in the country.
The suspect, who was arrested on Friday, was handed over to the Bauchi State Independent Corrupt Practices and Related Offenses Commission (ICPC).
Ahmad was in possession of N900,000 cash in new naira notes and N1.1 million in old naira notes and the funds were transported in a tinted black Hilux vehicle with registration number JMA 85 AZ.
The funds which were packed in the “Ghana Must Go” bag include six bundles of new one thousand naira notes worth N600,000; six bundles of five hundred naira new notes worth NOK 300,000 and old two hundred naira notes worth N1.1 million.”
The ICPC says the suspect admitted that the funds were moved to Gombe State for the politician.
Further investigations by the Commission are ongoing.
