Banky W, a Nigerian singer, has reacted to the Lekki-Ikoyi bridge toll collection restarting in April.
During the EndSARS protest in October 2020, the Lekki-Ikoyi Toll Plaza and the one inward Lekki ceased operating.
However, in a statement released on Monday, the Lekki Concession Company Limited (LCC) stated that while operations will commence on April 1st, payments would not be collected until April 15th.
Banky W reacted in a tweet on Friday, saying the decision demonstrates the Lagos State Government's lack of humanity.
He believes the choice was made at an inopportune time.
"The expected restart of collecting at the Lekki toll gate is simply another illustration of the Lagos State Government's terrible lack of empathy," he said. Nigerian life has been exceedingly challenging.
"Lagos State is displaying a flagrant disdain - not just for the grief felt by all the young people who were harmed by the events of #EndSARS, but also for the pain and difficulties being faced by the majority of Lagosians simply trying to survive in these challenging times."
