China's super breakthrough in 6G technology
China's Purple Mountain Lab in Nanjing officially announced that it had set a world record for real-time 6G transmission speeds for terahertz wireless communications (news in Chinese (1 ), in English (2 ))Quantitatively, the scale of this breakthrough will be shown by such a comparison.
Today's speed of our 4G mobile internet is up to 100 Mbps
The Chinese have reached a speed of 2 thousand times more - up to 200 Gb / s
On the example of the Sapsan Moscow-Peter train, such an increase in speed would reduce travel time from 3 hours 46 minutes to 7 seconds.
Needless to say, no one expected this. On December 18, 2021, Wang Jianzhou (ex-Chairman of China Mobile and now a senior consultant to the GSMA) stated that China plans to launch the first 6G network by 2030.
But no one in the world could even imagine that the 6G terahertz communication stand would work in just 2 weeks.
99.9% of readers believe that the significance of the breakthrough achieved is exhausted only by a crazy jump in communication speed. But this is absolutely not true. 6G is not only the speed of communication, but also a lot of things.
It is also:
- ultra-low signal delay
- ultra-high communication density and communication energy efficiency
- ultra-high reliability and safety
- ultra-high sensitivity and localization
All of the above makes possible such new classes of use cases that will change the world beyond recognition.
✔️ Ultra-smart city technologies (not to be confused with a smart city) - full automation of moving and flying vehicles, urban infrastructure and healthcare)
✔️ Multidimensional augmented reality (aka Metavers), as the basis of all business and home applications
✔️ "Internet of Feelings" - the transmission of a complex spectrum of feelings (for example, smelling a new perfume or the taste of a new artificial food)
✔️ Holographic communication
✔️ Haptic-based ultra-smart telemedicine (smart headband that reconstructs brain signals and presents them in 3D video)

The fundamental difference between all these new use cases is that the world will become an amalgamation of physical, biological and digital reality, in which about 10 billion people and about 50 billion ultra-smart 6G Internet of Things devices will live and function. And this hypernetwork of people will also include all types of distributed AIs living and working everywhere: from the earth's orbit to the depths of the ocean. And all this will provide 6G.
