"It is not a doubt that women and children are the worst affected by any breakdown of Peace" - President Buhari calls on African leaders to support first ladies.
In the process of peaceful coexistence, President Buhari has made a call on all African leaders, to support first ladies to advance peace and comfort.
In a ceremony, which the president declared open by the 9th general Assembly of the African first ladies peace mission [AFLPM]; he made it clear that peaceful coexistence should be supported by other African leaders.
He said,
"The activities of insurgents and bandits have led to more widespread displacement of poverty"
He continued,
"There is no doubt that women and children are the worst affected by the breakdown of peace. Therefore as mothers, I believe, you are in a better position to drive the processes of peace and actions were necessary". he added,
"Indeed, I'm happy to know that your forum was working towards promoting peaceful coexistence within the continent in so many ways," he said.
In addition to the colorful event, Mrs. Aisha Buhari was unanimously elected the new President of the mission.
President Buhari congratulated her, alongside other facilities for the acquisition of land, for the developers of a secretariat for the mission in Abuja, Nigeria's capital.
President Buhari said,
"It gladdens my heart to know that the secretariat will serve several purposes, including creating employment opportunities, as well as generating income for stability".
To count a few, First ladies of Burundi, Ghana, Congo Brazzaville, Liberia, Sao Tome and Principe, Mauritania, Sierra Leone, Congo we are all present.
African first ladies peace mission, known to have been established in 1997, is an umbrella body for wives of African heads of states and presidents.
